AI-Augmented Consultant

Knowledge-to-IP for specialist consultants and advisers. Turn the tacit knowledge behind your client work into a coherent, testable and reusable consulting method, while keeping your judgment, originality and claims under your control.

This family contains the fullest Knowledge-to-IP application of ARCHITECT, the Edney Learn knowledge recovery and codification standard. It is invoked within Recover to turn experience-based consulting judgment into structured, transferable intellectual property.

This pathway is for consultants and advisers who are paid to diagnose, improve or transform a defined part of a client organisation. It is not a complete consulting-practice management system.

The problem

Strong consulting practices often depend on judgment that has never been made explicit. It lives in discovery conversations, client engagements, working documents, adapted tools, decisions made under pressure and a set of instincts that experienced consultants apply without stopping to explain.

The consequence is that the method remains trapped in the consultant. It is difficult to apply consistently, teach to an associate, test against evidence, turn into a diagnostic or framework, or develop into intellectual property that is not sold solely as personal time.

What you build

A Knowledge-to-IP workflow that turns consulting judgment into structured, reusable assets — and, more importantly, gives you the capability to keep developing those assets without us.

  • Extraction — recover the reasoning, patterns and decision rules embedded in client work, notes and experience.
  • Structure — organise them into a consulting method, framework or diagnostic with defensible internal logic.
  • Testing — check whether the method survives contact with real and contrasting client cases, including the cases that do not fit.
  • Drafting — producing teachable material, authority assets and publication-ready intellectual property.
  • Quality control — define what counts as finished and distinguish a coherent framework from a correct, supportable one.

Where AI sits, and where it does not

AI supports extraction, structuring, testing and drafting. It is genuinely useful in each of those activities. It does not determine what is true in your field, what your original contribution is, what client evidence you may reuse, what you are willing to claim publicly or where your method stops working.

That division is the design. A consultant whose method was generated rather than articulated has a document, not defensible intellectual property.

Consultant overlay

The Consultant overlay adds:

  • Tacit-knowledge maturity
  • Framework clarity
  • Teachability
  • Evidence behind claims
  • Audience fit
  • Productisation readiness

How much support

If your method is already reasonably explicit and the problem is structure, a self-directed route may fit. If the most valuable material is genuinely tacit — the judgment you apply in client work but have never successfully explained — the facilitated ARCHITECT route within this family is the honest recommendation. Same standard, different intensity.

Boundaries

Where the Consultant Knowledge-to-IP workflow stops.

Claims that outrun their evidence

A framework that asserts outcomes requires evidence proportionate to the assertion. The workflow flags claims for substantiation rather than letting confident prose carry them.

Attribution and derived frameworks

Where your thinking builds on another author's published work, it gets attributed and genuinely generalised. Repackaging a named framework is not codification, and the workflow stops rather than help you do it.

Client-derived material

Knowledge derived from client engagements carries confidentiality obligations. Anonymisation, permission and boundary review happen before anything becomes a public asset.

Regulated and specialist domains

Legal, medical, financial and compliance content escalates to appropriately qualified professionals, regardless of your expertise in an adjacent field.

How to work through it
