The problem

Strong consulting practices often depend on judgment that has never been made explicit. It lives in discovery conversations, client engagements, working documents, adapted tools, decisions made under pressure and a set of instincts that experienced consultants apply without stopping to explain.

The consequence is that the method remains trapped in the consultant. It is difficult to apply consistently, teach to an associate, test against evidence, turn into a diagnostic or framework, or develop into intellectual property that is not sold solely as personal time.

• Extraction — recover the reasoning, patterns and decision rules embedded in client work, notes and experience.
• Structure — organise them into a consulting method, framework or diagnostic with defensible internal logic.
• Testing — check whether the method survives contact with real and contrasting client cases, including the cases that do not fit.
• Drafting — producing teachable material, authority assets and publication-ready intellectual property.
• Quality control — define what counts as finished and distinguish a coherent framework from a correct, supportable one.

Where AI sits, and where it does not

AI supports extraction, structuring, testing and drafting. It is genuinely useful in each of those activities. It does not determine what is true in your field, what your original contribution is, what client evidence you may reuse, what you are willing to claim publicly or where your method stops working.

That division is the design. A consultant whose method was generated rather than articulated has a document, not defensible intellectual property.
